We believe the power of writing belongs to everyone.

Our Mission

Writing connects people with each other and gives them a voice. It is a doorway to new opportunities — a new job, a new story, a new language — and we only need to pick up a pen to walk through.

Write Here aims to provide tools and resources to members of South Salt Lake for their creative, academic, professional, and civic writing needs. Our goal is for writers to build confidence in their abilities and to feel capable of expressing themselves in writing.

Write Here is a sponsored project of the Katherine W. Dumke Center for Civic Engagement at Westminster College in collaboration with Promise South Salt Lake.

Our Services

After School Programs

Write Here currently provides resources for after-school programs at Cottonwood High School and the Utah International Charter School. Tutors primarily assist non-native English students on writing material like spelling tests, school newsletters, and college application essays.

Community Center Support

At resource centers like the Commonwealth Performing Arts and Youth Entrepreneurial Center, writing tutors are on-hand to help with various writing projects.

Custom Workshops

We design personalized writing workshops for any group or organization! In the past, our tutors have helped Girl Scouts with their Scribe Badge, assisted the Salt Lake Center for Science Education in their Poetry Out Loud competition, and led workshops in autobiographical writing and resumes as part of clients’ substance abuse treatment programs at the Volunteers of America Cornerstone Counseling Center.
